Present building at Shakti
On February 28th 2003, Auroville's 35th birthday, the Auroville Language Laboratory (ALL) opened its doors at its new premises: the building which had been vacated by the Centre for Further Learning (now Future School); a building whose plans had been blessed by Mother. Until then teaching had been conducted in different buildings located all over Auroville, as well as in the private homes of various teachers.

A modern mediatheque was established, consisting of a server and 4 computers equipped with headphones, which gives access to audio-visual learning material and software of very high quality in different languages. This mediatheque is used for self-study, guided study and is a support for ongoing language classes. In addition, one room serves as the library and another as a shared classroom.

Future Plan for the ALL building
The presented design is a result of teamwork over the last 2 years with the Language Lab Group:

* the research and the practical experience of Need Assessment,
* the existing climatic conditions and
* the decision for a Sustainable Architecture.

Deriving from these main criteria, the Language Laboratory design integrates the Building Specifications.
