we launched a new experiment. The Language Lab extended its opening hours from 5pm - 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. We are offering special evening programs which include conversational practice with native language speakers, talks, poetry readings as well as self-learning and guided study in different languages with our mediatheque.
This program is free of cost to everyone: Aurovilians, Newcomers, Volunteers, Guests, and people from around the Auroville area. The Language Lab has always been open to all and this program will be as well. Ever learnt a language but feel a bit rusty now? Come and revive it! All, including Guests, are welcome to join. Come share your language with others!
Testimonials
I have been studying English at the Language Lab for the past two years. I enjoy these classes a lot. Our instructor includes general knowledge topics and different aspects of Auroville in each class, so we gain a lot. I like that there is humour and positive interaction in the classes.
When I first saw French In Action, I was skeptical because I had never seen anything like it for language learning in the past. But over time, I started raving about it to everyone when I saw how effective it was in helping me grasp the language quickly. It is fun and challenging, and if used alongside the supplementary workbook, it is one of the richest language programs out there.
Right in the middle of our beautiful city, a marvelous place of teaching, creativity and therapy emerges thanks to the courage and will of a few pioneers who followed Mother’s directives. For me, I see in this institution an example of transcendence in matter. I arrived here by chance, did Tomatis and took English lessons.
I took the introductory French course at the lab. The program was taught using the Tomatis equipment. It was a wonderful way to learn the basics of the language in a short time. The teaching methodology was especially appealing as it was conducted through freewheeling conversations while sticking to a basic syllabus. The student-teacher ratio was ideal and a lot of personal attention was paid to the needs of each student.
